First day of CNY was a relaxing one. After watching "From Vegas to Macau", we walked over to Grand Hyatt hotel for afternoon tea. It's just ten minutes walk from Pavilion Connection precinct (exit at Circus lounge on level 3).
The seat for afternoon tea was pre-booked three days prior to the actual day of event. You may request for window seat so you can capture better skyline pictures of Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
The afternoon tea starts at 3pm and ends at 6pm. It's a set for one but they do not limit how many people to share the set. You can share among two, three, four ... of you for the price of RM68++ per set.
In the afternoon tea set, there are 3 flavored macaroons and 2 biscotti on the top tier.
Then there are fresh cream tart and a piece of caramel cake on the middle tier.
The base would be peanut cake, raspberry mousse and chocolate layered cake.
The afternoon set comes with three slices of sandwiches. Tuna, mayo, chicken. The sandwich are just normal, nothing special I would say.
The two scones are fresh from the oven and on table, there were bottles of jams and honey to spread on the scones. Of course, there's sour cream if you would like the traditional way. I personally think the scones are good and worth a try.
Just being random here, we ordered seafood fried rice with spicy X.O sauce because we were hungry. The fried rice was real good, no regret ordering. RM30++ for a generous portion. It's good for sharing between two medium appetite eaters.
The overall dining experience worths 7 out of 10. It's because the lack of manpower in the restaurant and the staffs were not well trained. We waited 15 minutes to be given the menu and the worst thing of all was the staff don't remember your requests. You have to keep asking until you get what you want. I can't believe this kind of service quality being adopted by a five star hotel. I have been here five times in the past and the services were good in the past.
However, there was one Chinese staff that I wanted to praise but forgotten his name. He was very well trained and presented well.
